Notes From a Virgin
Age 23
January 2009
Faces flash by but who will it land on?
Which gentleman tonight,
will bring me shaking to my core
with sweet and pure delight?
Will I know him
or just an abstract face?
The wheel is turning,
a feverish race.
One face, two face
a body or two
my pulse is rising
the water flows through.
In and out and all around
a stream of stolen kisses,
a one night stand, a lonely night
so far they've all been misses.
The drum starts pounding loud and strong
The wheel, it starts to slow
Dark hair, strong legs, skillful hands
and eyes that seem to know.
He's above and in and all about
I grasp the empty air.
Eyes tight shut as muscles clench;
he must be waiting there!
I'm thrown ashore with the final wave
And reason spirals out
The tide laps at peaceful limbs
So why this sudden doubt?
A hunger gone and wet and done
A new one takes it's place
Just farther up and to the right
There beats a lonely ache.
